    The internationale tanzmesse nrw welcomes proposals for its 2020 festival.
    The internationale tanzmesse nrw hosts the largest professional gathering dedicated exclusively to contemporary dance. The 2020 fair and festival takes place from 26-30 August 2020 in Düsseldorf, Germany. Emerging as well as experienced choreographers are invited to submit proposals for the festival programme. Proposals are welcomed in five different categories.

    Type of proposals
    Performance: Full-length production (up to 60 minutes) premiered between 2016 and 30 September 2019;
    Site-specific performance: A performance that will take place outdoors, in a specific or public space or is adapted to a non-stage space (up to 60 minutes);
    New production: Full-length production (up to 60 minutes) that will premiere after 30 September 2019, including a premiere in the Tanzmesse Festival programme;
    Open studio: An excerpt of a piece that is in development, shown in a dance studio, followed by a feedback session with the audience (30 minutes);
    Pitching: An excerpt of a ready-to-tour production, shown in a dance studio, followed by a feedback session with the audience (30 minutes).

    Eligible applicants
    To send a proposal applicants need to rent a booth or find represention at a booth that invites them to send a proposal through their booth.

    30 September 2019: Deadline for sending proposals

    About internationale tanzmesse nrw
    The exhibition halls of the tanzmesse are a space where companies, artists, local governments and agencies can present the work they do or represent artists.
    The festival programme of the tanzmesse is an opportunity for exhibitors to present their work live, in the shape of fully produced performances or in the form of 'open studios', on 11 of the best stages for dance in Düsseldorf. The artistic programme is a selection of performances chosen from proposals submitted by artists.
    Debates and information sessions present opportunities for tanzmesse participants to network in smaller groups on specific and practical topics.
    A thematic focus for the tanzmesse 2020 programme will be Tradition and the Present.
